FAQ's or a few other things you might need to know about deliveries.
Q) How do I know if I live on the UK Mainland?
|
A) Do people look quite pasty and does it mostly rain? Then it's probably the UK.
|
| Q) Why do you charge for delivery at all? |
| A) It costs all companies to deliver goods to you. Some are honest about it & some companies hide their delivery charges in the cost of their goods. We think that's unfair on those customers (and there are many) who prefer to collect their own items, as it artificially inflates the price of our goods. |
| Q) Will the delivery company just dump and run? |
A) Partly depends on where you live.
If you live in London, more often than not, what you get for your money is a nice van, with nice, strong men who will handle your goods with skill and care and place them just where you want them - within reason. Sometimes, if it'll fit in a box and can be delivered by a parcel company, then we'll do that instead. Further-a-field, we use a number of other companies, who, whilst reliable and friendly are likely to be less flexible and will probably only deliver to your door or hallway - unless you're especially nice to them. Tea can often help to get them further. Sorry, but they won't take away your old or unwanted furniture.
|
| Q) Will they take my door off, climb fences, hoist things up through windows, etc. if needed. |
| A) No. Sorry, those are services outside that for which you have been charged. Tricky deliveries that involve the likelihood of damage or injury to either man or furniture, we leave you to arrange with someone else. |
| Q) If I forget and am not at home when you deliver, or you need to redeliver because my door needs removing first, etc, will you charge me again? |
| A) Simple answer. Yes, probably. And you might well be charged for returning the item to the warehouse too. Remember that if you can't take delivery at the time arranged, you might incur storage charges. |
| Q) When do you carry out deliveries? |
A) The firms we use deliver Mondays to Fridays, 9am to 5pm. In London, and often within the M25, they are able to provide a delivery time within a 2 hour window - so none of this 'AM or PM, but not if theres a Y in the month' mularkey. They'll even 'phone if they're running late. As to parcel companies - you probably already know the score.
|
| Q) Can you arrange delivery outside these hours, for example, really early or on weekends? |
| A) No, we can't do that for you, but you can contact the delivery company directly and see if they will make a special arrangement with you. It's much more expensive and is not included in the delivery charge that we've made to you. |
| Q) Can I have my money back if my furniture won't fit in my house or through my door? |
|
A) Sorry, but no again. Be sure to measure well, as we will neither refund the goods or the delivery charge.
|
|
Q) Can you arrange delivery to places not mentioned in the table above
|
|
A) Yes. We can arrange delivery of anything to anywhere that's not covered by our tariffs above - so if you need a table delivered to Timbuktu or a cup to Casablanca, then please feel free to call us on 020 7359 4281 or email for a quote.
Q) Do you use a secure credit card verification service to help prevent fraudulent deliveries?
A) Yes. We, like almost all other websites, use a credit card verification service which is known as 3D Secure. This means that you will have to enter a password that is private and you have agreed with your bank. This will confirm that your name, address (including house number and postcode) match the billing address of your card.
Q) Can I buy a present for a friend or relative and have it delivered to their address, rather than the one to which my card is registered?
A) Yes, so long as you have verified your identity as described above.
