The Provence table is manufactured to order from either oak or cherry sourced from farmed, sustainable stock. Its simple, yet robust design is taken from 19th Century French farmhouse tables, making it ideal for everyday use. It is traditionally made using mortice and tenoned joints which are pegged for extra strength. Hand finished, the tables are painstakingly distressed and then french polished, with a mildly heat resistant shellac, producing the deep rich colour and feel of an original.
Infact, buying one of these tables is possibly the best quality you could buy today. Each table is made by hand by craftsmen and women who really know what they're doing. Each table is hand polished, the colour and polish being mixed specifically for each table.
It's almost as if you were buying a table made 200 years ago, when they used to build things to last. It's worth bearing in mind that the originals that were made at the time are still around today. The same will be true of a table made by us today. There are few places you could buy a table today that it would be possible to say that you could be certain of it lasting for at least 100 years. The tables can be made to almost any dimensions, with and without drawers. Extending leaves can also be supplied to provide extra seating space for more guests. It is likely that the tables will mark with use and consequently improve with age. The Provence can easily be rewaxed from time-to-time.
Dimensions. The table stands 76cm to the top surface and all the 6-8 seaters on this website are 180cms long and 77cms wide. We can manufacture them to any size, so just ask and we'll give you a quotation.
They also come with extra leaves (£250 each 60cms long as standard) that slide on to the end if you need to extend your table temporarily and, as you can see in the picture, you can also buy them with a drawer (£125).
Colours shown are only representations and should not be relied upon when ordering. We have real wood samples for you to see in our shops.
IMPORTANT: Before ordering one of our tables, it is important to stress that they are deliberately distressed, with marks, dents and cup rings, etc which are put into the top by the craftsmen and women who finish them. The tops are supplied with gaps between the planks. The colour is mixed by hand and will vary from table-to-table, so the sample colours you see here on our website and those in our shops must only be considered a guide. If you want an even colour, with a flat, joined top that is not distressed then please do not buy this table from us - a better bet would be John Lewis.
If you live anywhere within the UK Mainland we can deliver to you for only £44.99. Please ask for a quote if you need it delivered abroad. |
