Master Craftsmen and Restorers
Matthew Crawford Furniture Restoration was established in 1938 by the present owners grandfather in Shoreditch, the then heart of Britain's antique and furniture trade. Our highly skilled and traditionally trained restorers provide a large range of services, including french polishing, carving, veneering, wood-turning, desk leathering, caning and upholstery and are able to sensitively and sympathetically nurse your furniture back to health.
Only restoration that is strictly necessary is carried out - preferring to conserve whenever possible - ensuring that your furniture remains in as original a condition as is practicable, retaining its natural patination and continuing to appreciate in value. Our restoration company is part of After Noah, the long established antique and vintage furniture and furniment shop based in Islington and we restore all of the stock that passes through their doors.
Whether your furniture just looks a little sad and tired or you have incurred flood or water damage, cigarette burns, marks caused by heat or alcohol, scratches, chips, dents and breaks - using our wide range of restoration services means that you can have your antique, vintage and 20th Century furniture nursed back to health by experienced craftsman. We will happily undertake commissions from the most simple chair repairs to the most complicated restoration of a priceless family heirloom.
We provide free estimates to most London postcodes, without obligation. We can also provide quotations for the purposes of insurance claims and a valuation service for contents insurance and probate.
Collections and deliveries can be arranged between Monday and Friday from 9am until 5pm and you are also welcome to drop things off directly to our workshop.

There are a few things that we do not restore; chief amongst them are contemporary sofas and armchairs
(often upholstered in leather) and much of the day-to-day furniture which has been purchased within
the last say, 20 years. Mainly this is because it is uneconomical to do so when
compared with the original purchase price.
