The plasma lamp was invented by Nikola Tesla after his experimentation with high frequency currents in an evacuated glass tube for the purpose of studying high voltage phenomena. Tesla called this invention an Inert Gas Discharge Tube. We all now it better as the PLASMA BALL. It used to be that you'd only see big plasma balls like this in sci-fi movies or the laboratories of mad scientists, but now you can have one in your home to marvel at.
Snakes of light extend from the central electrode to the outer glass ball. Putting your hand near the glass causes the beams to move towards your hand, changing the spooky light patterns.
The glass globe of the plasma ball is 4 inches in the small and 8 inches in diameter in the large and is powered by a mains adapter. |
